| Update: 5/28/2008 12:06:26 AM |
| Update The book project "Something Zeiss to say..." and the "TimeMachines..." Camera Collection Exhibit have been suspended until further notice. Health issues have rearranged priorities. I apologize to anyone who may have attempted to contact me, and instead, found a dead-end with no reply. I will try to answer any posts that come my way concerning SPECIFIC Zeiss Ikon issues and hope to be helpful to others who seek to learn about these beautiful cameras. GB |
| Update: 1/7/2003 11:17:28 PM |
The Book: "Something Zeiss to say..." will be published as a single work containing: All 100 installments that make up the entire series, currently being written in: CameraShopper Magazine, of the same name. The series began in May of 1994 and will "close-out" with the 100Th. installment. (Expected Mid 2005) Rather than publish two books, of 50 installments each, when the series ends with number 100, a single volume will be printed. If you're interested in pre-publication notification you're welcome to join the "Mailing List." I can only hope that the finished work will be worth the wait. |

This website has now reached over 10,000 viewers and it's still growing. Thank You, to all those, who have recommended this site to other camera collectors. Zeiss Ikon and Zeiss products make an interesting and rewarding collectable catagory and interest in these remarkable cameras will continue to grow as the years roll along. |
| Update: 4/25/2002 11:13:30 PM |
| On 4/25/02, I rec'd the following message in an e-Mail from e-Bay:
"You violated eBay's User Agreement by offering a mailing list.
"The following text is inconsistent with our User Agreement:
"Join the mailing list, on my website, for Collectable Classic
Zeiss Ikon cameras and accessories coming up on e-Bay.
Click the "Me" link for more on this seller."
"Because it is in violation of eBay's User Agreement, your listing has been ended early. All associated fees have been credited to your account."
I wonder, if e-Bay is too smart to know what they're doing. I apologize for their "narrow-thinking" and I'll pledge to keep you all posted on my Zeiss Ikon specific auction activities through private e-Mails. It's a misguided rule, but I must follow. Please recommend my "Mailing List" to any other collectors, you may know, who might be seeking unusual, significant, and historical Zeiss Ikon and Zeiss products in the future. G.B.

Just a note about the "GuestBook" pages. It's important to know that comments left on these pages are limited to 1048 characters.
Messages that are too lengthly, can be cut-off at the end. I really enjoy hearing from people all over the world. I find it very gratifying to revive old tales and stories about Zeiss Ikon cameras. Keep them coming. If you have a good Zeiss "Tale to Tell", please feel free to post it, for all, in the GuestBook section. GB |

For years, collectors have been asking me: Does The Zeiss Historica Society have a WebSite? At Last! They do! You can reach them through hot spots on the "Links" list or on the "Credits" page. This new Zeiss Specific site is the work of: Larry Gubas and it's full of useful information and educational insight. I encourage interested camera collectors everywhere to consider joining the membership of:
The Zeiss Historica Society. I've been involved, since 1988, and the benefits within are very rewarding. The ZHS Journal (published twice a year) is highly regarded and it's a primary source, dedicated to researching older Zeiss Ikon and Zeiss products specifically. I'm honored by: the ZHS editors assureance that a link back to this site has been included on their "Links" page. Enjoy the new: Zeiss Historica site. I sure have. |

Please feel free to post any questions you might have related to the SPECIFIC TOPICS of Zeiss Ikon camera collecting. I enjoy the dialog and I learn new things as a result of this interaction. Several readers have had specific questions about Zeiss Ikon cameras and products and they often ask me to help with an issue or item related to Zeiss Ikon pieces. I study this hobby of collecting Zeiss Ikon cameras and I'll make every effort to answer these inquires, as well as I can, but please use the proper channels to phrase these questions. I can be reached directly through the: "Contact the Collector" link or the "Feedback" page. Routine or individual questions posted in the "GuestBook" might eventually be deleted so they don't remain viewable forever. All Folklore & Legends will be retained. E-mails to the "GuestBook" might remain hidden from me for a longer period of time, while the "Feedback" posts are sent directly to my mail-manager for a much quicker reply. Thanks for viewing and using the website and I hope you've enjoyed your visit here... G.B. |

The "Collection Pages" now feature several dozen selections highlighted for a link to an image and a short text description. Some of the more unusual and scarce models from the "TimeMachines..." Collection are detailed. Selections include the Balilla, the Tengoflex, the SL-706 and the elusive and rare Contessa S-312. Some Contax, Contaflex, Contarex, Icarex and Ikoflex TLR are now featured. Here's a HELPFUL HINT: Open any pop-up window from the "Collection List" and maximize the window. The "Slide Show" can now be viewed, in order, from start to finish. This slide show feature also works as well in the "Ad Archives" section. More photos are coming soon. Stay Tuned for future additions. |
| Update: 11/6/00 7:05:50 PM |
This site now features an "Ad Archive" of classic Zeiss Ikon full-page display ads that were published in England and the United States in the late 1930's through the 1950's. Zeiss Ikon produced very detailed displays and featured most of their cameras in elaborate ads with wonderfully clean & crisp illustrations.
This "Ad Archive" should be used as a worthwhile resourse to examine some of the outstanding designs produced, and advertised, by Zeiss Ikon engineers. |
